CHAPTER ONE

Marek kissed the top of Jazmine's head and slipped out of the bed as she let out a soft sigh. She was everything he needed and far beyond anything he had allowed himself to want before. The smell of her lingered on him as he walked to the bathroom, his body humming with the long overdue release. He had been careful to hold himself in check over the last six months of his travels and even before that, he hadn't been too promiscuous. Sex was an occasional treat and never had it been that good.

Her tight little body had fought long and hard against his, Marek enjoying the challenge of losing himself in the girl. He moved into the shower and made sure the water was hot. He needed to wash off the desire that clung tightly to him. Concentration would be important as they passed through the black hole only a few hours ahead. Vartik was hidden in the lands lost to time, their world cloaked from all outsiders. Traversing the path laid before him was going to be a feat in and of itself, but he was up for it.

After having Jazmine accept him fully, he could do anything.

He lifted his chin, letting the hot water move down his chest as he scrubbed large circles on his abdomen and over the large muscular structure of his upper body. His concerns over telling his parents about the woman in the other room reared to life. They wouldn't accept her willingly. He was going to have to play his cards right.

Everything they were doing to set up for his arranged marriage and subsequent ruling was done in accordance with their history, their ways locked in place more than six millennium ago.

Marek had considered at the last minute not to spill himself inside of the beautiful creature sound asleep in his bed, but he wanted her to have him fully. There was a chance that he had impregnated her, but perhaps not. He was in heat and potent without a doubt. The question was really around whether her body would accept his offering and create a child in her womb.

"If she has my babe, I'm not relenting." He brushed his hands over his face, resolve setting deep inside of his spirit. He wanted her by him for the rest of his days regardless of the place that she would have to take. He would help her find her brother and they would get him back without disturbing the truth of the stone she was seeking.

It would kill her to know that he was the one holding it at bay.

Swallowing hard, Marek leaned forward and turned the water off before yanking a towel from the rack just outside of the shower. He dried off quickly, dressing in a pair of soft sleeping pants and moving out into the bedroom.

He paused and listened to the sound of Jazmine sleeping as a smile brushed by his lips.
